Oral Surgery

Oral surgery is used to treat diseases, injuries, and deformities of the maxillofacial region—the mouth, jaw, and neck. A maxillofacial surgeon is a highly specialized physician. A dentist will refer a patient to a maxillofacial surgeon if orthodontics or basic dental procedures are not able to fix a problem. Often, a patient will have to visit a maxillofacial surgeon after an accident or trauma.
